We are fast approaching the end of the academic year. As class teachers we are making sure our Y2's are ready for the move to KS2 and our Y1's are ready for Y2.

Hopefully, we will be seeing some more of the sunshine to end our year. We have a busy term ahead of us before we can all relax into the summer.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support.

Mrs Rush - KS1 Leader, Class 4

Mrs Johnson/Mrs Levitt - Class 3

Miss Winstanley - Class 2

This year, as always, we are supported across KS1 by some amazing TA's. TA deployment is always considered extremely carefully. Due to our numeracy and literacy lessons being taught in the morning the bulk of the support is during those lessons. Your child may mention they have been taught/supported by any of the following members of KS1;

Mrs Fisher and Ms Davill - HLTA's

Mrs Clark, Mrs Hamilton, Mrs Hourigan and Mrs Lindley.

On Tuesday 13th March, KS1 welcomed Dom and Jenna from Skip 4 Life into school. They talked to the children about healthy eating and how to keep our bodies fit and healthy too; by making sure we get some exercise.

They then went on to show the children how easy it is to skip and played some skipping games with them. All the children had lots of fun and impressed Dom and Jenna with their knowledge of healthy eating.

Summer Term Topic - Castles

This is the topic overview we are following for our spring term planning. We do not follow the planning exactly but may adapt or change it to suit our classes needs and requirements. All three KS1 classes will be focusing our lessons on the first page of the topic overview.

As you may or may not be aware our Y2's will be completing their SATs this term. They will be assessed the week prior to half term (wc 21st May). The SATs will consist of two reading comprehension papers and two maths papers (an arithmetic paper and a reasoning and problem solving paper). All assessments will be completed in the morning and our afternoon lessons will be as normally timetabled.

As a staff, we try to keep the assessments as low key as possible, just asking that they children try their very best to show us what they can do. It would help us greatly if you could make sure the children get plenty of sleep and are well rested. Thank you so much for your support.

Below you will find a copy of the timetable for that week.

On Friday 16th March, KS1 was taken over by Superheroes. We had Batman, Iron Man, Captain America and Supergirl to name a few. The KS1 staff were nowhere to be seen, instead we had Wonder Woman (twice), Batman and Robin. Even Coach Freeman (our PE coach) had been replaced by Mr Incredible!

The day was very busy with our Superheroes participating in lots of different activities throughout the morning. All our Superheroes looked absolutely amazing.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents for your support. Without it, the day would not have been as successful as it was!

Games/P.E. kit will be needed as follows:

Please ensure a full change of kit is available for all lessons, which will be outside, weather permitting.

A change of footwear is essential for outdoors. Can we also remind you that earrings/jewellery should not be worn on these days.
