SPRING TERM

Happy New Year to each and everyone.

We hope that you have all had a truly magical Christmas and haven't made too many New Year's resolutions - we all know they can be difficult to keep!

Our Spring term means revisiting our Australia topic. We have lots of exciting activities planned throughout the term that I'm sure all the children will enjoy.

Please can we ask that you continue to hear your child read and record this in their reading record and help them learn their spellings every week.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support.

Mrs Rush - KS1 Leader, Class 3 - Y1/2

This year, as always, we are supported across KS1 by some amazing TA's. TA deployment is always considered extremely carefully. Due to our numeracy and literacy lessons being taught in the morning the bulk of the support is during those lessons. Your child may mention they have been taught/supported by any of the following members of KS1;

HLTA; Mrs Fisher (Class 3 Tuesday morning and Class 2 Wednesday afternoon)

HLTA; Mrs Brown (Class 3 Wednesday afternoon)

Mrs Clark, Mrs Hamilton, Mrs Hourigan and Mrs Jefferson.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park visit

Our visit to the park was amazing. We were extremely lucky with the weather and had a sunny, warm day.

The children all enjoyed the 'Bare Necessities' workshop and were able to show their knowledge of the polar regions. Below are just a few photographs of the day.

Spring Term Topic - Let's Visit Australia!

This is the topic overview we are following for our autumn term planning. We do not follow the planning exactly but may adapt or change it to suit our classes needs and requirements. Both classes will be focusing our lessons on the first page of the topic overview.

Our topic combines geography and history together. So in history we will be studying Captain Cook and his discovery of Australia.

In science we will be studying seasonal changes and weather patterns. taking into account the difference in seasons between the UK and Australia. This will also give the children the opportunities to practice their mapping skills and using an atlas.
